Academy Curriculum
Investigation (Levels I, II, III)
Have you ever wondered ‘How do I know if I’m seeing case of trafficking and what do I do if I see it?’ The Investigator Academy seeks to answer this and many more questions you have about trafficking in your area.
The Investigator Academy is an intensive training for individuals who want to learn how to identify, document, map and work with the anti-trafficking agencies in your city or country. Attendees gain in-depth knowledge about the many types of human trafficking in the United States and beyond.
Drawing from hands-on training and sessions with experts in the field (law enforcement, service providers, legal teams, community-based organizations and more) attendees learn how to identify possible cases of human trafficking, how to properly record and document potential high probability locations, and how to liaison and work with partners such as law enforcement, service providers, legal teams, and others.
Learn what you can do as an active abolitionist in your city… the do’s and dont’s of being a concerned citizen, documenting and working with organizations in your area.
Important Note: The Not For Sale Campaign Investigator Academy does not instruct or condone aggressive investigative procedures or techniques. To reiterate our investigators are trained to passively investigate, research and document suspected areas of human trafficking in their local areas.

Supply-Chain: Understanding and Confronting Consumer Connections
The January 2008 cover article of Forbes proclaimed: “Child Labor: Why We Can’t Kick Our Addiction”. The Supply-chain Academy is for those individuals who don’t want to live in a world where we are constantly asking ourselves, ‘Am I wearing someone’s misery?’ or ‘Did I eat someone’s desperation?’
Everyday we unwittingly perpetuate the crime of human trafficking by purchasing goods that are tainted with forced labor. Attend the Supply Chain Academy to unpack the story behind the barcode, and learn how we, as consumers, have the power, to help eradicate modern-day slavery. Attending the Supply Chain Academy is only the first step. Graduates of this Academy have the opportunity to not only change their personal consumption habits, but also become “grassroots consumer advocates” in the community by spreading the word to their peers.
Aftercare 2.0: Entrepreneurs Creating Business Opportunities Where None Exist
How do we break the cycle of bondage by addressing the economics of a community? The most vulnerable in our world are in need of enterprise to be empowered economically. The entrepreneurs academy gears up business and entrepreneurial leaders to bring enterprise to communities where economic viability is in-need or non-existent. These entrepreneurs will be taught by Not For Sale President David Batstone (professor and author of Saving the Corporate Soul) and Joseph Natalie (professor and entrepreneur).
Healthcare: Tools for Recognizing and Referring Victims of Human Trafficking
Prior to discovery, many victims of human trafficking in the United States at some point will find themselves in the care of a health professional. Nurses, doctors, EMTs and other professionals are not trained to identify a victim of human trafficking or what to do if they are confronted by modern-day slavery.
