Nola Brantley - Executive Director & Co-Founder, MISSSEY

Innovative Aftercare Facilitator, San Francisco Academy

There is a saying that there are many folks that “talk the talk” and few that” walk the walk.”  Ms Brantley belongs to the latter.  She walks, she runs, she dances, she leaps— and, on occasion she kicks hard– as Nola is truly advocacy in motion. Currently, Nola coordinates services for commercially sexually exploited and trafficked minors in Alameda County.  Nola’s hard work and perpetual vigilance has brought both focus and concrete resources to this chronically underserved and largely unrecognized   population of victimized children and youth.  Some of her other accomplishments in this area include the development and pioneering of the first intensive case management treatment service model and program for commercially sexually exploited children in Alameda County, the development and implementation of a protocol for commercially sexually exploited children to receive specialized advocacy and assessment in Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, the development and implementation of a transition and recovery center for commercially sexually exploited children in Oakland and last but not least Nola is one of the co-founders of MISSSEY, Inc.  Many of the services that Ms. Brantley has developed and implemented for this population are amongst a few of their kind in the nation.  She dedicates countless hours to comforting worried parents, providing trainings and presentations throughout the community and advocating for these children to have a real future.  Nola possesses both passion and unfailing commitment to her community, her world and to the young people she serves.
