The Academy World Tour

Engage. Equip. Empower.

In 2012, Not For Sale seeks to engage communities around the United States and the world, equipping individuals with innovative and practical solutions, and empowering them to work against the prevalence of modern-day slavery in their own backyards.  As the abolitionist space gains momentum, Not For Sale moves further and further “upstream”, looking at the root causes of exploitation by implementing innovative models of economic and social justice.  To this end, the grassroots has an increasingly vital role to play.  The Academy World Tour was created to scale and strengthen a global response to this crime against humanity.  Together we can help ensure that every man, woman and child is given a chance for freedom and dignity.  Your community can become leaders in the modern-day abolitionist movement!

The  Academy World Tour (AWT) can range from a 1 to 2 day event, and is completely shaped around the needs and desires of the host community.  Each AWT stop is therefore entirely unique!  Below are the differing modules that can be incorporated into your event.

The Academy Workshops

These focused workshops address three simple questions: Why, How and What.  Each session is focused on a particular aspect of the abolitionist space, intending to engage different sectors within your community.

  • The Free2Work Workshop (45-60 min) is designed to provide participants with a stronger understanding of the complexities that surround forced labor and supply chains.  The workshop will also highlight the profound role we all can play, as consumers, simply by the way we shop.
  • The Slavery Map Workshop (45-60 min) will give participants an introductory insight into recognizing the red flags within ones community, the importance of reliable data and how SlaveryMap.org can be used as a tool for advocacy, research and investigation.
  • The Social Entrepreneurship Workshop (45-60 min) will focus on the innovative work Not For Sale is undertaking around the world through the implementation of social enterprise models.  This session will give participants a clearer understanding of why economic justice means social justice.
  • The Free2Play Workshop (60-90 min) will look at interactive approaches to utilizing ones personal passions, creativity, and skills in the abolitionist movement.  Artists, athletes and musicians alike can all help ensure children around the world are Free2Play.
  • The Faith Based Activism Workshop (45-60 min) will look at the intersection of faith and social justice.  The workshop will also explore the history of faith inspired activism, people whose spiritual conscience turned their calling and used their gifts into social justice movements.
